Aer Arann, the airline owned by Spiddal man Padraig O Ceidigh, says it will carry one point one million passengers this year.

This is despite the fact that one of it's subsidiary companies has been struck off, and another is threatened with removal from the company's register.

The Galway airline, which entered examinership two years ago, says recovery is already evident.

The Irish Independent reports that Aer Arann passenger numbers went over the one million mark last year, for the first time since 2007.

And, the airline expects passenger numbers to rise by another ten per cent this year.
