O CUIV RESIGNS FROM PARTY ROLES

Date Published: 29-Feb-2012
Galway West's Eamon O'Cuiv has resigned as Deputy Leader of Fianna Fail and as the party's spokesperson for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.
Míchael Martin says that Deputy O'Cuiv's refusal to support the Parliamentary Party's position on the Fiscal Compact meant that it was no longer feasible for him to occupy these roles.
Deputy O'Cuiv says he will still attend the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis this weekend at the RDS in Dublin.
Speaking this evening [Feb 29], he said he couldn't support the fiscal compact deal, because it is the wrong decision for Ireland.
