NUIG research centre secures funding from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
An NUI Galway research centre has been awarded 100 thousand dollars as part of an initiative run by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The Plant and AgriBiosciences Research Centre has been allocated the funding as a Grand Challenges Exploration winner.
The grant will be used to pursue an innovative global health and development research project and will involve 3D rapid-prototyping of agricultural or cropping tools to reduce labour demands on women smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan African.
The NUIG project will be conducted in close partnership with Concern Worldwide.
