NIALL QUINN OPENS BALLINASLOE HORSE FAIR

Europe's oldest horse fair was officially opened in Ballinasloe this afternoon [Oct 2] by former soccer international Niall Quinn.

Thousands arrived for the week long festival's show and sale which featues some of the best blood stock in the country.

Over 100 street stalls meant the town was largely pedestrianised and traffic diverted.

Gardai are advising motorists not attending the festival to avoid the town today and tomorrow and use the motorway or the sign-posted detours.
