MERIT MEDICAL FIRM TO DOUBLE GALWAY PLANT

Medical devices company Merit Medical plans to double its Galway operations in the next five years.

This comes after Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced 200 new jobs at the Parkmore East plant this morning.

30% of the new jobs to be created will be offered to third level graduates, and will be centred in areas of research and development, operations support, and manufacturing.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news at this mornings opening, Merit Medical CEO Fred Lampropoulos says it's the first of many future investments in Galway.

He said the company are looking for additional property so they can open another facility of equal size to that opened this morning.
