Date Published: 10-Jan-2013
The Principle of a primary school in Oranmore says he's facing the prospect of refusing new students because the school is already bursting at the seams.
Principle of Gaelscoil de hIde Mait O Bradaigh is holding a meeting with politicians, parents and staff tonight to address the urgent need to progress a new building.
The Department of Education sanctioned a new building for the Gaelscoil in 2006, and the purchase of a site in the centre of Oranmore is almost complete.
The Department sanctioned construction to begin in 2015, but school authorities are calling for works to begin immediately.
Almost 300 primary students are now in temporary accomodation with no playground space.
The meeting at Gaelscoil de hIde is taking place at 8:30 this evening.
