This is going to rub some Galway people up the wrong way

It’s not a case of when will the party stop in our neighbouring county but rather will the celebrations ever stop as the mighty men from Mayo continue to cheer their historic All Ireland Final win.

You name it and the green and red have been there this week, from Castlebar to the high north of Belmullet, they have raised Sam aloft in every inch of the county.

There is talks of the players taking a break after today but not before their open top bus tour around some of the towns and villages that haven’t been marked yet in Mayo like Kilmeena and Ballintubber.

And no your eyes do not deceive you, that is a Galway sightseeing tour bus doing the rounds for the parade - a sight that is definitely going to rub some people up the wrong way in Galway.

Our sister site The Mayo News have done a fantastic job following the lads around and even caught up with the mother of Kobe McDonald and Jordan Flynn who said the past few days have been “like a dream”.

She told them: “You don't want to wake up because you're thinking, 'Oh my God, if I wake up, is it going to be real?'”

The close bond between Kobe and Jordan has shone through all season and Karen glows as she says that her two boys are "very, very close. Jordan's a massive big brother. He's like his bodyguard. He's constantly watching out from him. He's very good to him.”

Jordan is a firmly established intercounty player and has kept watch over his 18-year-old brother stepping into the same jersey, with massive expectation and a national spotlight.

Belying his age, Kobe also spoke with poise and told his community that “Without Crossmolina there would be no Kobe McDonald."

"And what it is for everybody else, just watching our own home club, and all our friends and how excited they are for us," she says. "It's just — it's unreal. It's brilliant."
