A jury at the inquest of murdered Swiss teenager Manuela Riedo has recommended that no student should ever walk the line between Ceannt Station and Renmore alone, at any time. The jury of six men and two women have just returned a unanimous verdict of unlawful killing of the 17 year old at her inquest at Galway courthouse. Concluding, Coroner Dr McLoughlin said the circumstances of the murder of Manuela Riedo had outraged and shocked the people of Galway. He said she was robbed violently of her life and her parents deprived of an only child. There was a sense of a need for atonement in Galway at the time of her murder, Dr McLoughlin said.
