Management is to proceed with redundancies at Rehab in Galway at the end of this month.

It follows a meeting with SIPTU trade union last evening [Mar 2] where calls for a three month moratorium were rejected.

14 staff at the company's recycling plant in Parkmore are to lose their jobs due to what Rehab says is as a result of the economic downturn.

Galway East Labour TD Colm Keaveney says it's a disappointing outcome which should be reconsidered by Rehab.
