MAN TAKEN TO UHG AFTER AIR AND SEA SEARCH OPERATION

A man has been taken to University Hospital Galway following an air and sea search operation in the city.

RNLI crew located the man close to Hare Island about a mile south of Galway docks at at around twenty past nine.

A fisherman onboard his vessel spotted the man and raised the alarm

The RNLI team took the casualty on board and travelled to the Galway docks where they were met by ambulance crew

Shannon Helicopter and Galway lifeboat crew were first alerted to the incident at around 8:20 this morning, following unconfirmed sightings of a person in the water
