MAN REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING WEEKEND PEDESTRIAN CRASH IN KNOCKNACARRA

A 31 year old man has been remanded in custody, with consent to bail, following a weekend crash in the Knocknacarra area in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

Marius Strelciunas with an address at 132 Manor Court in Knocknacarra appeared before a special sitting of Galway District Court this afternoon.

He is charged with one count of alleged dangerous driving contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act.

His arrest followed a collision on the Barna Road at 1.40 yesterday morning during which a 21 year old man was struck by a car while walking.

Strelciunas has been remanded in custody with consent to bail to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday (Dec 28).
