Man had heart attack after altercation with lover’s ex-husband

A 64-year-old man died of natural causes following an altercation with the ex-husband of a woman he was involved with at her home in Baile na hAbhann, an inquest heard this week.
Charles Townsend, an osteopath from Sligo, arrived at the home of Christina Pek Fong Ngo on November 30, 2019 where he stayed the night, Galway Coroners Court was told.
Ms Pek Fong Ngo said she had known Mr Townsend since 2013 or 2014, and had attended his practice in Union Wood, Sligo, about two or three times a year for “back issues”, and told the court that her ex-husband, Michael Gorman, also knew Mr Townsend as he had attended with her.
“Charlie wanted to come down to Galway to see the renovation that was carried out on my house. Charlie wanted to see my solar panels and spend time with me,” she said, adding that he arrived at her house at around 2pm on November 30.
The following morning, December 1, she opened the door to find her ex-husband, Michael Gorman there.
The Coroner, Dr Ciarán MacLoughlin gave a cause of death of hypertensive and ischemic cardiomyopathy with a contributory factor of steatohepatitis.
