Man denies rape of woman in city
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A 50-year-old man has gone on trial charged with the rape of a woman in Galway city two years ago.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court today for trial.
He pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault of the woman at the Curiosity Shop, Merchant's Road, Galway, on October 12, 2012.
He also denied having a knife in possession at that location on the same date.
A jury was empanelled to hear evidence in the trial which is due to begin on Thursday and is expected to last two days.
