MAN CHARGED FOR GALWAY AND CLARE CHURCH ROBBERIES

A 22 year old man has been charged for a spate of robberies from churches in County Galway and County Clare.

Eugene Scorr of Mill Road in Ennis is charged with theft from Fr Joe Roche at the Church of the Nativity in Loughrea on November 4th last.

He also faced seven other charges from churches in County Clare when he appeared before Ennis District Court.

The Irish Times reports that Scorr is accused of stealing from coin boxes from eight churches on dates between September 25th and November 4th last year.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy remanded Scorr on bail to appear before Ennis District court again on February 22nd.
