LOCALS SUCCESSFUL IN BID TO BLOCK KINVARA DEVELOPMENT

A group of residents against plans for a mixed-use development in Kinvara have been successful in blocking it.An Bord Pleanála has overturned a decision by Galway County Council to grant permission for the development on the Glebe road.The Board ruled that the Kinvara development would be out of character with the pattern of development in the vicinity.It also ruled that the mixed-use development would result in substandard levels of open space and result in overlooking.An Bord Pleanála also agreed with the objection in the appeal that car parking on the site would be inadequate.
