LOCAL FARMERS TO LOBBY TDS TO PROTECT SCHEMES

Farmers will lobby local TDs to protect farm schemes in the upcoming budget at meetings in Galway this week.

Galway IFA has organised the meetings, to include debate on the septic tank charge and land reclamation act, to co-incide with the Fine Gael 'think-in' in the city.

Tonight's meeting at the Connemara Gateway Hotel in Oughterard at 9 o' clock will cover the Galway West constituency.

Tomorrow night's meeting in the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry will be for farmers living in the Galway East constituency.
