Lisheenkyle National School is stepping up its campaign in a bid to reform the rules for wind-energy and micro-generation.

The facility is one of only a few schools nationwide to have a wind turbine which generates electricity.

However under current rules, additional stores cannot be accessed when needed as credit or sold back into the national grid as is the case for farming and domestic customers.

In an effort to showcase its campaign, the school will transform its playing field into a farmyard with poultry and livestock on Friday to illustrate its case and its potential to make greater use of reserves if it had "farm" status.

Principal Anne Keary says the position on microgeneration regulations needs to change.
