LIQUID MILK DAIRY FARMERS PROTEST AT ARRABAWN IN KILCONNELL

Date Published: 12-Feb-2013

Up to 50 liquid milk dairy farmers are protesting outside the Arrabawn Dairies in Kilconnell this lunchtime.

They claim the returns from the co-op are not covering the cost of milk production.

It follows months of poor weather conditions in the region, and an increase in the price of cereals, fertiliser and diesel.

Dairy farmers do get a small bonus for the Winter over the Summer price but this hasn't changed in the past few years.

Arrabawn Dairies has not made any comment on the matter as of yet.

John Finn, a liquid milk dairy farmer based in Oranmore, is at Kilconnell and says farmers hope to meet with management in the next few days.
