Limited tickets for Druid's June trip to Inis Me‡in

Date Published: {J}

Druid’s current production of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh kicked off in Roscommon last January, and in the 15 weeks since, the cast and crew have clocked up 10,000 miles, 1,150 bed nights and cracked around 600 eggs.

On Sunday June 26, the tour will touch down on the island of Inis Meáin for two performances (1.30pm and 8.30pm) where the play will be performed for the first time. This will be the final stop after a major five-month US and Irish tour and the company say it’s bound to be a highlight.

Tickets for the Inis Meáin performances went on sale to residents of the Aran Islands last month and a very limited number will go on sale to the general public next Monday, May 23 from 10am.

Druid’s Marketing and Development Manager Sinead McPhillips says that Druid has “already been inundated with requests for tickets and we anticipate that demand will far exceed the supply available.

Regrettably this situation is beyond our control and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their support of our Inis Meáin visit and hope that everyone will be able to soak up the atmosphere on the day”.

Druid’s June visit to Inis Meáin will mark the company’s eighth visit to the island since their first visit in 1982 with The Playboy of the Western World by J.M. Synge. Druid last visited in 2005 with DruidSynge.

The cast and crew of The Cripple of Inishmaan have just finished a six-week run on the west coast of America and this week will visit Philadelphia and take in two more stops in Charleston, South Carolina and New Haven, Connecticut before heading for home.

The show will return to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre from June 22 – 24 and tickets ranging from €12 - €25 are available from the Town Hall on 091 569 777 or online at www.tht.ie

Meanwhile, tickets for Inis Meáin are only available by phone through Druid on 091 500233 Monday – Friday, 10 am – 6pm.

They cost €20 and €16 concession and a booking fee of €1 will apply to each ticket. There is no online booking available and a limit of two tickets per person will apply to each booking.
