LEGISLATION NEEDED TO TACKLE GALWAY'S ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Date Published: 17-Oct-2011
Legislation change is needed if Galway is to tackle issues of anti-social behaviour in the city and county.
That's just one of the findings of a seminar this afternoon hosted by the County Joint Policing Committee as part of its strategic plan.
The meeting was attended by the city, Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Tuam joint policing committees as well as members of the Garda Siochana.
The importance of rural garda stations, parental control and greater use of CCTV were also highlighted as vital in making the community a better place.
Chairperson of the County JPC, Councillor Mary Hoade told Galway Bay fm news that lack of legislation presents a barrier for Joint Policing Committees in tackling issues such as anti-social behaviour.
