The Environmental Protection Agency has won its case against Greenstar Holdings Ltd relating to the company's landfill in Kilconnell. At Loughrea court today, Judge Elizabeth McGrath said the case by the EPA had been proven and awarded fines totalling 3 and a half thousand euro. The Judge ruled that Greenstar failed to comply with two conditions of its licence relating to the Kilconnell landfill. The first condition stipulates that emissions do not interfere with the environment outside the Kilconnell facility. The second condition, which Greenstar failed to comply with, was to ensure that vermin, birds, flies, mud, dust or odours do not give rise to nuisance at the site or immediate surrounds.
