Josh Ritter and The Royal City Band will perform live at the Festival Big Top on Saturday, July 20 with special guests as part of Galway Arts Festival.

The 36-year-old Idaho born singer-songwriter will perform songs from his new album, The Beast in its Tracks, which is his most personal work yet.

Ritter has a long established relationship with Irish audiences having spent early parts of his career touring the country after being spotted at an open mic night by Glen Hansard of The Frames, who also headlines at Galway Arts Festival’s Big Top this July.

The Guardian’s four-star review of The Beast in its Tracks said, “Ritter’s directness is emotionally devastating…Fragility is Ritter’s greatest strength”. The Irish Times said “such is the power and depth of the album that you can feel Ritter’s sense of conflict seeping from every personal song”.

Josh Ritter made his debut in 2011as an author with his New York Times best-selling novel, Bright’s Passage.

Tickets for his Big Top show at €33.50 will go on sale this Friday, March 8 at 9am from galwayartsfestival.com, roisindubh.net, and ticketmaster.ie, and from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

A limited number of Early Bird tickets at €30 will be available from galwayartsfestival.com
