It will be the first ever plan and order point for Galway

IKEA’s first ever Galway store will open its doors to the public at the end of next month creating over 13 jobs for the area.

The Swedish furniture giants will cut the ribbon on their Gateway Retail Park store on Thursday August 27 offering 250 products for immediate purchase.

Their Plan and Order points are smaller stores - like their eighth Irish one being set up in Galway - which is designed to give customers tailored support in planning kitchens and storage solutions.

The store will be open Monday to Wednesday from 9am-6pm; Thursday and Friday from 9-9; Saturday from 9-6 and Sunday from 9-6:30.

The new store will be IKEA's largest location outside Dublin and the first in the West of Ireland to offer the Plan and Order Point experience.

Spanning 788 m² across two levels, the Galway Plan and Order Point is meticulously designed to inspire.

The store will feature a range of 250 home furnishing accessories and a curated selection of 25 bestselling furniture lines available for immediate takeaway. In addition to the takeaway items, the store will also showcase 30 fully displayed home furnishing solutions, including 12 kitchen vignettes, 10 PAX and PLATSA wardrobe setups, 3 living room vignettes, and 2 inspiring roomsets.

The Plan and Order Point will also serve as a high-capacity Click & Collect service, offering up to 100 local pickup slots per day, allowing customers to order any item from the full IKEA range and collect it locally free of charge.

The store will also operate as a local returns location, and will operate on a cashless basis, accepting card and digital payments only.

Customers can book an appointment at IKEA.ie or drop-in to start their design with one of the design specialists based in the store.

Jayne Owen Gauld, Market Manager, IKEA Ireland, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing our eighth Plan and Order Point to Galway. The city has a dynamic, thriving community, and we have designed this store specifically to meet the needs of the West of Ireland.

“Set across two levels, customers can work directly with our design specialists to plan major projects like kitchens and wardrobes, while immediately shopping 250 home accessories and key furniture lines.

“We are proud to be bringing our commitment to affordability to the many households of Galway.”
