Hundreds of people are taking part in a candlelit vigil in memory of Savita Hala-pan-avaar in Eyre Square this evening. (5)

The vigil at Browne's doorway co-incides with a demonstration held by Galway pro-life who are calling on the Government to legislate for the X Case.

31 year old Savita, a dentist living in the city, died on the 28th of October after contracting septicaemia following a miscarriage at University Hospital Galway.

Her husband 34 year old Praveen, an engineer at Boston Scientific, claims she was repeatedly refused a medical termination.

The Health Minister James Reilly says he will await two reports into the woman's death before deciding what action must be taken.

The HSE says it has identified an international expert in obstetrics and gynacaeology to join the inquiry team reviewing the death of Savita Halappanavar.

Meanwhile, around 40 people, most members of the Galway Indian Community, are now now gathered outside University Hospital Galway to pay hommage to Savita.

The community cancelled their plans to celebrate Diwali to instead demonstrate outside the hospital.
