The Health Service Executive West says its improving its food menu for Galway University Hospitals following the removal of the soup course.
Chief Operating Officer, Tony Canavan, says a review was carried out on food given to patients at Galway's public hospitals.
A bowl of soup was given to patients between 11a.m. and 11.30a.m each day, between breakfast and lunch, but that service has now been culled.
Speaking on 'Galway Talks', Tony Canavan says the HSE has abolished the soup course in hospitals because a lot of it was going to waste.
