HSE introduces self-harm service for Galway and Roscommon region
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A new self-harm service has been introduced for the Galway Roscommon region.It comes as most recent figures show that about 500 self harm presentations were recorded at the Emergency Department in University Hospital Galway in 2012.
Alan Costello is the first HSE Self Harm Nurse to be appointed in the HSE West area and is based in the Emergency Department at UHG.He will take direct referrals from the ED and from the Psychiatric Liaison Team at the city's public hospitals.Two further posts will come on-stream this year to be located in Roscommon County Hospital and in Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
