Plans by the Augustinian Community to refurbish part of its church in the city have been blocked. The community had sought planning permission to turn the existing exhibition room into a shop and make an internal link between the shop and museum at Middle Street and St. Augustine Street. The Council's Heritage Officer is against the changes to the church and planning was refused on the basis that to open a new doorway would detrimentally affect the character and importance of the protected building.
