Headford Dental Clinic to reopen by end of summer
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The dental service for the Headford area is to be restored by the end of summer. The Headford Dental Clinic requires refurbishment works to bring it up to Health and Safety and HIQA standards. Area Manager for the Galway Roscommon P-CCC Catherine Cunningham has told HSE Health Forum West members the centre is in a ‘planned programme of repair.' County Cathaoirleach Mary Hoade had raised concerns about the lack of a dental service for schoolchildren in the Headford area while the clinic was closed for refurbishment. However, the HSE has confirmed that the service will be restored in the coming months. Meanwhile, the dental service for schoolchildren across the county has been re-organised to ensure equitable access. All 283 primary schools in the county will have access to dental assessment in 6th class, and an emergency service will be available for children with dental problems. The new system will also allow the HSE to continue to provide orthodontic assessment and onward referral to an orthodontist if required.
