More than half a million euro has been allocated for rural transport in Galway.

The money is being provided through the Rural Transport Programme in two six-monthly allocations.

Bealach Páirtnéireacht Iompar Áiriúil Chonamara Teo will get 211 thousand euro, while Galway Rural Development Company will get almost 189 thousand euro.

A further 189 thousand euro has been sanctioned for South East Galway Integrated Rural Development Limited.

Galway West T.D Seán Kyne says the Rural Transport Programme is essential in combatting rural isolation and provides a vital link to people living in remote areas.
