GOVERNMENT ACCUSED OF DELAYING ACTION ON MFG

Date Published: 22-Sep-2011
The Government is being accused of not 'stepping in sooner' to save up to 130 jobs at Meitheal Forbartha na Gaeltachta.
Galway Senator Trevor O' Clochartaigh claims the Government was made aware of serious problems within the Gaeltacht company several months ago.
Earlier this month, MFG announced it was closing down with the loss of 30 jobs in the Connemara region, after being declared insolvent.
Many of the jobs associated with the company are directed by the State.
Minister of State at the Department of Environment Willie Penrose maintains the Government is fufilling its duties in relation to MFG
