GMIT has expressed its condolences to the friends and family of former student Gary Price who drowned in south east Asia.

The business graduate died last Sunday in Laos, while attempting to cross a river.

His body will be repatriated to his home in Swinford, Mayo tomorrow.

The 23-year-old, who played soccer locally with Mervue United, had stopped off in Asia on his way home after a year spent in Australia.

He planned to spend one week in Ireland, celebrate his twenty-fourth birthday next Tuesday, before travelling on to Boston where he had already secured employment.
