The Barroughter and Clonmoylan Bogs Action Group is joining calls for the abolition of the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

It's after Galway County Councillor Jimmy McClearn said the group had not done enough to help turf cutters affected by the ban on cutting on raised bogs.

The government has offered a compensation package or relocation to those affected.

However , Dermot Moran of the Barroughter and Clonmoylan Bogs Action Group says relocation is not a feasible option in their area.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, he says proposals to de-designate are not being given enough consideration.
