GALWAY TD URGES AIRPORT TO PROVIDE VIABLE BUSINESS PLAN

Galway airport must provide a viable business plan if it has any chance of securing Government funds.
That's according to Galway West TD Sean Kyne who says the Transport Minister could be open to providing a once off payment to secure the airport's future.
It follows last night's city council meeting where an agreement was reached to allocate 50 thousand euro in funding to the Carnmore facility.
This is provided matching funding is allocated by the County Council, 100 thousand euro is provided by the Department of Transport and a copy of a viable business plan is put forward for the airport.
The airport is 89 percent owned by Galway Chamber of Commerce.
Its CEO Michael Coyle says the business plan involves the leasing out of assets, using the 600 car park facility and providing facilities for private aircraft and emergency services.
Speaking on Galway Talks, Deputy Sean Kyne says the Government needs to see a viable business plan for the airport.
