GALWAY TD CONDEMNS THIRD LEVEL GRANT ASSESSMENT CHANGES

Planned changes to the assessment criteria for third level grants will have a major impact on rural farming communities across county Galway.
That's according to Galway East TD Michael Kitt who says the future inclusion of farm assets in the means test shows an "anti-rural" agenda by government.
The ICMSA Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association is also campaigning against the change in criteria which is due to take effect in 2013.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Deputy Kitt says the change may push third level education out of the reach of many farming families in Galway.
