GALWAY PRO-CHOICE TO HOLD CITY DEMONSTRATION OVER X CASE LEGISLATION

Galway Pro-Choice is holding a demonstration in the city this afternoon to call for statutory backing to the Supreme Court judgement in the X case (1st Dec).

The march will be starting at the Spanish Arch at 2pm, and will proceed down Shop Street and on to Eyre Square.

The group is also planning to stop outside Galway Labour TD Derek Nolan's constituency office on Dock Road.

The march is being held in the city a month after the death of Savita Halapannavar who died at UHG of septicemia following a miscarriage.

Her family claim she was refused a termination and are now taking a case to the Court of Human rights seeking a sworn public inquiry.
