Galway is playing a key role in Ireland's renewable energy ambitions.

That's according to Taoiseach Enda Kenny who opened the International Sustainability Summit in the Global Village at the Volvo Ocean Race today.

The Taoiseach said Galway Bay is a very successful test site for wave energy devices and supports world-class technological innovation around renewable energy.

The summit was attended by policy-makers, scientists and investers who debated how sustainable growth can be enabled, financed and delivered.
