Galway plays key role in first EU Digital Youth Council

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Youth Council, which is first of its kind in Europe, has been established with the assistance of a number of Galway contributors. The Digital Youth Council was established by 15 year old entrepreneur and founder of Kid Tech, Harry McCann, with the help of Galway East Fine Gael TD Ciaran Cannon and Director of Galway Education Centre, Bernard Kirk. The Council aims to give a voice to young people involved in technology in Ireland and provide them with a platform to influence the future of technology in education. There are 12 members on the new Youth Council, including Galway native Edel Browne, who won the individual prize in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition last year. The inaugural meeting will take place on Monday the 25th of this month at the Science Gallery in Dublin. Deputy Ciaran Cannon says the council's long term ambition is to set up mini-councils in every school in Ireland.
