Galway personal injury claimants awarded €8m in compensation
Galway Bay fm newsroom - 287 awards were made to personal injury claimants across county Galway in the first six months of the year.
The compensation totals over 8.4 million euro with the average award in the county recorded at over 29 thousand euro.Galway is ranked sixth on the regional table of awards per head of population and accounts for 5.4 percent of the national share.In 2012, 533 awards were made across the county.Nationally, 5,286 people were awarded compensation from January to June this year - up 2 per cent on the same period last year. The five counties with the largest number of awards were Limerick, Longford, Dublin, Louth and Carlow.
