IT is an insult to people in County Galway, and in other counties outside Dublin, for Minister Leo Varadkar to suggest they should co-fund repairs to rural roads, according to Moylough Councillor Michael Connolly.

He has hit out at the Transport Minister's latest proposal that people in rural areas could contribute towards repairs to local and regional roads.

Councillor Connolly is writing to the Minister to also point out that residents could end up facing insurance claims if accidents happened after they funded such repairs.
