GALWAY GARDAI IN STRONG WARNING ON ILLEGAL FIREWORKS

Date Published: 30-Oct-2012
Galway Gardaí are asking parents and adults to report the sale and or possession of illegal fireworks in their area.
On the eve of Halloween, Gardaí have issued a warning on the serious dangers associated with fireworks.
Each year many children and young people are injured by fireworks including burns loss of limbs and serious eye injuries.
The sale, possession or use of fireworks in this country is illegal.
In addition, illegal fireworks offered for sale have not passed any quality control tests and in the majority of cases are found to be defective.
Sergeant Pat Flanagan says people need to be responsible in helping to prevent serious injuries arising out of illegal fireworks.
