GALWAY FARM WOMEN TO RECEIVE PENSIONS AGAIN

Date Published: 07-Apr-2010

The Government is to re-instate the pensions which were being given to women in Galway and across the country, who had worked on family farms.

In January of this year, the State Pension for women who had worked in partnership with their husbands on farms was scrapped.

However, Galway West TD and Minister for Social Protection, Eamon O Cuiv, is restoring the pensions

The IFA says the decision is a result of a campaign by farm women and IFA officers who raised the issue with TDs and councillors in Galway and nationwide.
