More than 400 Galway county council workers from the SIPTU trade union are withdrawing from Tuesday's public sector strike so they can continue to deal with the aftermath of this week's flooding.

It comes as the Government's emergency taskforce meets to discuss the clean up operation, which is expected to run to several million euro.

The SIPTU workers in Galway, say they're deferring the action until the crisis has been dealt with.
