GALWAY COMMUTERS URGED TO SAVE BY USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Date Published: 19-Mar-2013
Galway commuters could cut their travel costs by up to half by travelling by bus instead of car.
That's according to the 'Cost of Commuting' survey published by Bus Eireann.
The study finds that with the recent rise in petrol and diesel costs at around 162 and 155 cent respectively, commuters who travel to work by car could be adding hundreds to their annual household bills.
The survey examines a trip from Galway to Ballinasloe with an estimated petrol spend of €20.59 per round trip, compared to €14.50 on the bus.
