Garda warning to barbers over 'covert haircuts'

From this week's Galway City Tribune - A small number of city barbers are operating covertly despite being forbidden to do so under Covid-19 restrictions, the Galway City Tribune understands.
Customers have been seen entering and leaving premises, with haircuts being carried out ‘behind closed doors’.
As part of the measures introduced to curb the spread of Covid-19, barbers and hairdressers were included in suite of businesses that were forced to close their doors in March.
Under the Government roadmap to easing restrictions, such businesses are to remain closed until at least July 20 – phase four of five in the process of reopening of the economy.
A spokesperson for Galway Gardaí confirmed that operating a hairdressers or barbers at the moment contravened regulations and urged members of the public who had information to report it to Gardaí.
Emergency powers that have been in place since April 7 give the courts powers to issue fines of up to €2,500 or impose a prison sentence of up to six months on those in breach of the Covid-19 regulations.
