Property prices in Galway city have experienced the worst fall in prices this year when compared to the rest of the county.

That's according to a new survey by the Sunday Times which shows that house prices in the city have dropped by 17 percent while asking prices in the county have fallen by 12 percent.

However the rate of the fall in Galway city is beginning to slow down with the exception of apartments and townhouses which continue to drop in value.

A further 10 percent drop is expected in the county this year while a fall of just 7 percent is forecast for city based properties in Renmore, Ballybrit, Merlin Park and Mervue.
