GALWAY CITY HAS LOWEST BIRTH AND DEATH RATES

Galway City, along with Cork city, has the lowest birth rate in the country at 13.1 per cent according to the Central Statistics Office. Galway city also has the lowest death rate according to the figures for the third quarter of last year.According to the Central Statistice Office there were thirteen births for every thousand people in Galway city last year.The birth rate for the county area stands at 17.5 per cent which is half a percent higher than the national average.Galway city also has the lowest death rate in the country at 2.1 percent. This contrasts with 7.9 percent for Galway county and the national average of 6.2 percent.
