GALWAY CAMPAIGN MAINTAINS RESISTANCE TO HOUSEHOLD CHARGE

The Galway campaign against the household charge says it stands strong in its opposition to pay the 100 euro fee.

Hundreds of activists from all over Galway are on route to Dublin to take part in a major rally against the tax.

Campaign activists, politicians and members of UNITE trade union will speak at the event that's taking place at the National stadium between one and four this afternoon.

The Government has advised that next Saturday the 31st of March is the deadline for paying the charge, and fines will be imposed if the payment is not made.
