FURTHER CUSTODY REMAND FOR MAN CHARGED WITH WHITESTRAND SHOOTING

A man, who is being held in custody charged in connection with a shooting in the city over a week ago, has been further remanded in custody.42 year old, Anthony McDonagh of Tulach Ard, Circular Road, is charged with having a sawn-off shotgun and cartridges, with intent to endanger life at Whitestrand Road, Salthill, on April 18 last.For security reasons, the accused, Anthony McDonagh, was not kept in the prisoners section of the courtroom At Galway District Court yesterday.He was only brought briefly into court from the holding cells downstairs when his case was called.During the very brief remand hearing, inspector Pat McHugh applied to have McDonagh further remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District court in two weeks’ time.
