Further confusion over nature of Tuam mass grave

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There is further confusion over the nature of the contents of the mass grave beside the former mother and baby home in Tuam with death certificates showing that some mothers also died at the home. Catherine Corless, the local historian whose research has sparked investigations into the burial of babies in a mass grave beside the home over a 40 years period, says a number of women, at least three of them mothers, also died at the home. But while her research has uncovered that the women died at the home she can't be sure if they were buried with the children in the mass grave. Catherine Corless also says her research shows that no famine victims were buried in a tank on the site as records show it was in use as a spetic tank up to 1935 or 36.
