FUNDS DROP DRAMATICALLY FOR COUNTY ROAD WORKS

Funds available to Galway County Council for the 2013 road works programme have dropped dramatically compared to last year.

There's been a 52 percent reduction in funds allocated for motorways, dual carriageways and national routes, and a 12 percent reduction in funds for local roads.

Last evening's meeting of the local authority also heard that individual roads would only come in for repairs once every 25 years if the present trends continued.
